Secret Sister Tea
     On July 12, I talked with Margaret West about our Secret Sister program. You may have heard Sharon and Margaret talking about the Secret Sisters during church. Several months ago a group of 24 women and young ladies signed up to be a Secret Sister. Once they signed up the ladies had an opportunity to select a name from a basket. Each lady, over the next several months, would receive small tokens and cards from their Secret Sister.
     On July 9, Sharon and Margaret hosted a tea at the Victorian Lady in Lewisburg. The ladies were served finger sandwiches, desserts and beverages. Vanessa DeVett shared her musical talent with us as she played the violin. Part of our program included a poem written specifically for the day by Margaret.
     I asked Margaret how she learned about the Secret Sisters and she shared she had visited a friend’s church, the church of Emily Hick’s, and saw they had Secret Sisters at her church. Margaret then shared this idea at our church.
     A Secret Sister is a person who secretly sends small gifts and notes to another person. Ladies must be eight years of age and older to participate and there is no limit to the number of women who may participate.
     Margaret shared plans are already underway to begin another group. There is no cost to become a Secret Sister unless you purchase a gift or cards. Margaret and Sharon will again lead the next group. What great fun Margaret had being involved in the Secret Sisters and she was surprised at the number of ladies who participated.
