Service Auction 2005
Sold! was the word of the evening at Lincoln Chapel's
Service Auction, which was held 11/13/05, and raised a total of $2,941.50 in
sales of services and goods. The money will be used to help provide heating oil
this winter, for families living right here in the West End. Sales were brisk,
with Robert Vanatta of Col. Bob's Auction Service, serving as auctioneer. Pastor
Jon West made his debut as an apprentice auctioneer, and received a round of
applause for his efforts. Baked goods by our own church members were among the
fasted selling items, including apple dumplings, cinnamon rolls, various kinds
of cookies, pies and cakes, and homemade chocolates. Full dinners were also
sold, and will be enjoyed by folks during the upcoming year: Thanksgiving dinner
with trimmings, lobster dinner, roast beef dinner, lasagna, homemade pizza,
dinner for two, also dinner and a movie for two, or lunch with the Bishop.
Services included: Sewing, yardwork, automotive, Bible
studies, music, scrapbook, or computer lessons, spa treatments, babysitting,
elder care, carriage ride, and gift wrapping.
Unique travel opportunities included: Shopping with a
fashion consultant, grocery, doctor appointments or shopping transportation,
Christmas shopping, overnight shopping excursion, and a New York City trip.
Thanks to the generosity of the people who bid on and
bought items, and those who volunteered goods or services, this year's Service
Auction was a great success. The meal which preceded the auction was wonderful,
and included many delicious main dishes and desserts as well. Lincoln Chapel
would like to extend a big THANK YOU!! to everyone who was involved in the
event, and to the United Methodist Women for organizing the meal.
