Dear friends in Christ,

It's been a year now.  One year ago, you welcomed me and my family into your congregation and into this community.
Let me say that it's been truly, truly enjoyable.  It's been a challenge to learn the history and traditions of the church.  But through doing so, we've come to find a group of people who have a heart for Jesus Christ and his mission.
We're actually surprised that it's already been a year.  In some ways, the time has gone by so quickly that it seems like we just moved in.  In other ways, we feel so connected to you and to this entire congregation that it feels like we've been here much, much longer.
One thing that really took us by surprise was the number of people who are already so directed in ministry. I go out to visit and find that someone from the church has already been there.  I hear of an appeal for help and turn around to find that the item has already been cared for.  We invite a missionary to come and speak, and are able to support an entire year of his college education.  If we decide to have a dinner (carry in or turkey supper!), there are people there before and after the meal - no questions asked. Wonderful.
Believe me, folks.  We have a successful church.  People are motivated.  God is moving in our hearts.  It's a joy to be a part of a congregation whose Christian love isn't only seen on Sundays.  No, I am very impressed by the number of people who live their faith each and every day.  Quietly.  Without fanfare.
Keep it up!  Let's use our combined energy to continue to accomplish great things within our congregation.  And now we've even become a major support of ministry in other parts of the worlds.  God is so good!
I am so proud to serve in ministry with you.  I'm looking forward to many, many more years as your pastor - and as your friend.
Wishing you God's grace and peace,

Pastor Jon
