September 2006
Dear friends,
Greetings in the
name of Jesus, the one who has gifted us with the Spirit!
As United Methodists, we believe that the Holy Spirit is active and
available in our daily lives. Too often, however, we are overwhelmed with the
stress and strain of the ‘here and now’ that we forget the power and possibility
which is ours through God’s gift of the Holy Spirit.
To claim God’s frontiers right here and right now in our communities is an
enormous undertaking. We can do it only if we, as congregations and as
individuals, are undergirded by the power of the Holy Spirit. The situations we
face in our lives and in our church simply cannot be overcome without God’s
guidance and grace.
Therefore I would like to make you aware of an all-day Conference-sponsored
event that will take place at St. Andrew’s UMC, Milton, on Saturday, September
30th.
Led by Bishop Jane Middleton, Superintendent Samuel Sheffler, Dr. Marybeth
Morrison, and myself, Pentecost NOW will be a venue for spiritual renewal and
discernment. I believe your attendance at this event will be a positive step in
our church’s continuing ministry. You may contact me directly for more
information, or explore the event online at
www.cpcumc.org/pentecost.
If you have not already indicated to me that you will attend, I invite you
to register online. This is open to everyone!
In Christ,
Pastor Jon West
