Myrtle’s Sugar Cookies

3 eggs
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
3/4 cup shortening or lard
1 cup sour milk (l tablespoon vinegar to sour
3 1/2 to 4 cups flour or enough to stiffen
l teaspoon vanilla
pinch of salt
Cream together sugar, eggs, and shortening. Add dry ingredients, then add vanilla and milk. Mix well, then add enough flour to stiffen. Bake at 350f for 12 to 15 minutes. Use your own judgment. These are very good. Makes approximately 4 dozen.
