The Walk to Emmaus
What is the Walk to Emmaus? It’s an opportunity to get to know Jesus
through other believers. It starts with an invitation from a sponsor. Once the
invitation is accepted, an application is completed. It is a three day
experience of New Testament Christianity.
The three days are filled with singing, learning, laughing, praying,
worshiping, and participating in small groups. Talks are given by laity and
clergy with the theme of the talks being God’s grace and how that grace comes
alive in the Christian community.
After the walk there are groups who meet weekly and there are monthly
gatherings. The purpose of the walk is to develop leaders for the church and
will inspire, equip and challenge local church members.
The Emmaus walk is open to members of any Christian denomination. Emmaus
develops Christian leaders who are members of a local church, who may have
unanswered questions about their faith, understand being a Christian includes
responsibility, and who are willing to dedicate their lives to God in an ongoing
manner.
